So we are still waiting for our chimney to arrive, which has meant a long, slow wait to begin our pizza. In the meantime we’ve been getting everything else ready; the menu is all set to go, and the door has been cut (and still needs a bit of metal attached to it).
Our big project was the bench that we will use to prepare the pizza’s on. As per usual, we decided to make the bench, and Pablo, a Guatemalan guy, rocked up and said he’d help us.
Dre and Pablo went and bought the timber and he set about making the bench… before the day was out we had several people all joining in on the project.
A moment of satisfaction was had when the bench was finished… until we tried to slot it into the gap and realised it was too big! It didn’t fit by about 1cm, so after several attempts at bashing it into place, we admitted defeat and called it a day.
The problem was easily solved, a quick trip to the timber cutters on a tuk tuk with the bench saw it chopped down to size and it then fitted into place. Now we’ve just got to concrete the top and it’s done!
We have now been promised (for about the 10th time) that our chimney is coming tomorrow, so we all have our fingers crossed for it’s imminent arrival!
